A critical part of Baro Dununba is the dedication to share our blessings with our brothers and sisters in Africa and the Diaspora. During a visit to Guinea in December 2006 through January 2007, some members of the group experienced first hand, life in the village of Baro. Initially, our purpose was to enhance our knowledge of the Djembe drum and other traditional Malinke instruments.

We gained an enormous amount of knowledge from our culturally rich hosts but we could not ignore, the severe poverty and lack of basic medication to treat simple cuts and bruises. Tetanus and infections were rampant in the village. The medical supplies that we had taken with us, became a blessing for several of the children and adults.

Baro Dununba is committed to providing medical and educational assistance to the village of Baro. We are committed to using some of the funds we raise from our performances for the purchase and transportation of medical and educational supplies to the village.

Brother Michael Slocombe is heading the medical project . He can be contacted at mike@barodununba.com or by phone (416)407-4488.

Any donation of cash, medical or educational supplies or services are welcomed. Our next scheduled visit to Guinea is December 2008.
